Submit your Expression of Interest in joining Canberra Community Voices

There are a few things for you to consider before submitting your details. These are not meant to scare you off!  They are merely to give you an idea of what you might be letting yourself in for!

  • TIME: There is a time commitment in being a member of the choir so that we can present as a professional choir. We hope that you will attend a minimum of 50% of the rehearsals for a given term and at least 70% of the rehearsals for the year. We follow the ACT school terms so that usually equates to 4 terms of 10 weeks duration. We also put on performances during the year, be it our own concerts or at other public events. These are often, but not exclusively, on weekends. We reasonably expect that members will be available for a good number of these performances. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings, 7.30 to 9.00 pm. Currently, our rehearsal venue is in Braddon at the Merici College Auditorium, Wise Street BRADDON ACT.
  • AUDITION: The Canberra Community Voices is a non-auditioned choir where members come together to enjoy music and good times in the spirit of song. Singing is said to be very good for your health so we strongly encourage you to join us and sing.
  • UNIFORM: The Choir does have a uniform and members are expected to purchase the uniform when they join.
  • MONEY: Like most groups/clubs, there is some financial input required. All Members pay a tuition fee per night attended nominally $10.00. Contact details can be found here.
  • COMMUNICATION: If you end up agreeing to join our choir, we will in all likelihood use your email address to keep you informed of upcoming choir events and concerts. Please see our Privacy Policy.
  • CONTRIBUTION: As a community choir we depend on our members to contribute to the running of the choir where and when they can. In the "skills" section on the form feel free to include any particular areas of relevant expertise you may have (e.g. marketing, design, music teaching, sewing, web-design, admin, grant applications, fund-raising, concert production, lighting, sound, playing of an instrument, legal etc.)

The table below gives an indication of the vocal ranges covered by the different voice parts.  C4 is "middle C".  Further information can be found at this link:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocal_range

If you don't know, don't worry. We'll sort that out should you be invited to a rehearsal.
